Fuimos elegidos entre las mejores tesis de un total de 800 participantes&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p>\u201cEffect of cryoconcentration on ice crystals formation: Micro\/Nanostructural analysis\u201d y \u201cNovel method for the manufacture of copper nanowires using diphenylalanine nanotubes as templates\u201d, son los trabajos por los cuales el alumno del Doctorado en Ingenier\u00eda de Alimentos, Patricio Antonio Orellana Palma, result\u00f3 entre los ganadores del premio Student Travel Award, otorgado por Elsevier y NanoToday.<\/p>\n<p>El estudiante Patricio Orellana Palma fue el \u00fanico iberoamericano distinguido puesto que los dem\u00e1s ganadores pertenecen a reconocidas universidades de Europa, Asia y Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n<p>Como parte del reconocimiento, el estudiante doctoral recibi\u00f3 una invitaci\u00f3n y el pago de inscripci\u00f3n para exponer sus resultados en modalidad poster en el 5th Nano Today Conference, realizado en Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa noticia del reconocimiento fue una verdadera sorpresa para m\u00ed, ya que la postulaci\u00f3n la inici\u00f3 mi profesor gu\u00eda, Dr. Guillermo Petzold Maldonado, enviando una carta de recomendaci\u00f3n a Elsevier y a organizadores del evento. Fuimos elegidos entre las mejores tesis de un total de 800 participantes. El jurado tom\u00f3 en cuenta la originalidad, rigor acad\u00e9mico e importancia cient\u00edfica de los trabajos. Luego, tuve una entrevista v\u00eda Skype, con parte del comit\u00e9 organizador de la conferencia y representantes de Elsevier, en la cual deb\u00ed mencionar aspectos de mis trabajos y su finalidad, por ende, fue todo un desaf\u00edo. Del total de postulantes al galard\u00f3n, se eligieron los mejores 25 trabajos\u201d, explic\u00f3 el estudiante, quien se encuentra en la Universidad de Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, donde realiza su pasant\u00eda doctoral.<\/p>\n<p>Patricio Orellana precis\u00f3 que \u201cEffect of cryoconcentration on ice crystals formation: Micro\/Nanostructural analysis\u201d, corresponde a parte de su tesis doctoral cuyo profesor gu\u00eda es el Dr. Guillermo Petzold, y tiene como objetivo analizar el efecto de la concentraci\u00f3n por congelaci\u00f3n sobre la morfolog\u00eda de los cristales de hielo en soluciones de sacarosa, evaluando par\u00e1metros de forma y distribuci\u00f3n de tama\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>En tanto, \u201cNovel method for the manufacture of copper nanowires using diphenylalanine nanotubes as templates\u201d, es parte de un trabajo realizado bajo la tutela del Dr. Sergio Acu\u00f1a Nelson, y eval\u00faa nuevas metodolog\u00edas para la formaci\u00f3n de nanotubos de difenilalanina y su uso como molde para la fabricaci\u00f3n de nanocables de cobre.<\/p>\n<p>El estudiante Patricio Orellana Palma agradeci\u00f3 el esfuerzo, apoyo y confianza de la Universidad del B\u00edo-B\u00edo, espec\u00edficamente, a la Direcci\u00f3n de Investigaci\u00f3n, a la Direcci\u00f3n de Postgrado, a la exdecana Mg. Patricia Letelier Sanz y al actual decano de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud y de los Alimentos, Dr. Jorge Moreno Cuevas.<\/p>\n<p>NanoToday es una revista cient\u00edfica multidisciplinaria y se encuentra s\u00e9ptima entre los journals de mayor impacto en \u00e1reas de Qu\u00edmica, Ciencia e Ingenier\u00eda de los materiales, con un enfoque en nanociencia y nanotecnolog\u00eda.
